Black Ops 3's bonus zombie map goes back to where it all began

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

leak late last week said Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 would bring back a reimagining of one of the original Zombies mode maps, and this entirely pre-rendered trailer from San Diego Comic-Con confirms it and explains what's going on. Here's The Giant, a bonus map based on "Der Reise" from 2008's Call of Duty: World at War.

I can barely follow what is taking place here; a pretext for shooting hordes of zombies shouldn't have to be this complicated. The facility in this video features the Pack-a-Punch machine, which will be used in the game to upgrade weapons. And those are playable characters Nikolai, Takeo, Dempsey and Richtofen, returning to continue their story of mowing down as many zombies as they can.

The Giant will be included with the collector's editions of Black Ops 3 — the $80 GameStop exclusive Hardened edition, the $100 Digital Deluxe, and the $200 Juggernog, which includes an actual freaking refrigerator.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches Nov. 6 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, though the previous-generation consoles will have fewer features than current hardware.
