The upcoming all-female Ghostbusters film will bring back Dan Aykroyd in some capacity, said Aykroyd yesterday in a since-deleted tweet, reports Entertainment Weekly.
"On [Ghostbusters] set shooting my scene with funny beautiful Kristen Wiig Lady [Ghostbusters] are adorable, hilarious and badass Exhilarating! #ghostbusters," said Aykroyd yesterday evening. You can see a screencap of the tweet below.
Aykroyd later deleted the tweet, but Entertainment Weekly confirmed with his representatives that he is involved with the film.
The nature of Aykroyd's role in next year's Ghostbusters is unclear at this point. There's no word on whether he will return as Dr. Ray Stantz (above center), his starring role from the first two Ghostbusters films; he may have been filming a smaller part, such as an uncredited cameo.
Ghostbusters is set to premiere July 22, 2016. For more, you can see the cast — Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon — in their full ghostbusting getup in this production photo tweeted by director Paul Feig.
