Halo 5: Guardians' limited collector's edition comes with an impressive set of additional physical goods that help to justify its $250 price: a statue of Master Chief and Spartan Locke, a metal Guardian statue, special packaging, a SteelBook game case and more. But it doesn't come with a physical copy of the game. Instead Microsoft and 343 Industries were packing a digital game code in the box — or at least that was the original plan.
In an update on Halo Waypoint today, 343 says it will give Halo fans the option to get a physical copy of the game in the limited collector's edition of Halo 5: Guardians.
"Today, we're able to confirm that for those who would like a physical disc, we'll provide an option for fans to exchange their digital copy for a physical copy at no additional cost," the developer said. "We'll get into details as we get closer to launch, and we'd like to once again thank you for the feedback."
343 Industries announced shortly after E3 2015 that the limited collector's edition of Halo 5 will be released on Oct. 20, a week before the game's official launch date. The inclusion of a digital copy of the game was meant to give buyers the chance to pre-load the game and be ready for launch day. But feedback from fans pushed 343 to provide the option for a physical copy.
