This past weekend's Evolution Championship Series was full of drama, heartbreak, shocking comebacks and, of course, some of the best fighting game action on the planet. If you weren't around to catch all three days of Evo 2015 — or you just don't get what all the fuss is about — we've selected a dozen clips from the thousands of fights that went down this weekend for your viewing pleasure.
Here are some of the highlights from Evo 2015. We welcome your suggestions for other great fights from this weekend's premier fighting game tournament.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Alex Valle vs. Bonchan
Veteran Street Fighter player Alex Valle goes up against last year's Ultra Street Fighter 4 Evo runner-up, Bonchan, in a masterful display of Hugo play. "Mr. Street Fighter" pulls off some seriously clutch moves against Bonchan's Sagat in early Evo 2015 play.
Killer Instinct - Sleep NS vs. My God
Sleep's Kan-Ra fights for his life with just a pixel's worth of health, while My God tries to play it smart and safe by waiting it out. Things don't necessarily go as planned in this top-eight Killer Instinct match.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Poongko vs. Onisan
Onisan tries to play some mind games with Seth-master Poongko by going topless at Evo 2015. Poongko responds in kind in this extremely NSFW and hilarious display of Ultra Street Fighter 4 play (and nipple).
Super Smash Bros. Melee - Plup vs. Leffen
William "Leffen" Hjelte went into Evo 2015 extremely confident in his ability, but Plup schooled him with some masterful Samus play in the top-eight losers bracket. Leffen left humbled, but a good sport.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - BKR vs. Justin Wong
Last year's Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Evo champ, Justin Wong, met KaneBlueriver in the semifinals. KBR's top-tier Hulk-Haggar-Sentinel play left Wong's Akuma-Wolverine-Storm reeling in a decisive victory.
The next day...
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - KBR vs. RayRay
KBR made it to the grand finals. The Chilean champ showed losers top-eight bracket winner RayRay — who fought valiantly out of the losers bracket — what's up, ending the match in a spectacular way and becoming the first non-American player to win Ultimate Marvel 3 at Evo.
Super Smash Bros. Melee - Chudat vs. Hugs
Five minutes into this top-32 losers bracket match between Chudat and Hugs, one of the commentators declares it "virtually over at this point" for Chudat, who's down one Ice Climber in his match against Samus.
But this is Evo, and nothing is over until it's over.
Guilty Gear Xrd Sign - Woshige vs. Ogawazato
We've covered it already, but Woshige's shocking win over Ogawa in Guilty Gear Xrd Sign reinforces the point above. Save the celebrations for the finish line.
Mortal Kombat X - Sonicfox vs. YOMI MIT/Honeybee/A Foxy Grandpa
Watching Mortal Kombat player Sonicfox work his way through the losers top-eight bracket was a fascinating lesson in adaptive Kitana and Erron Black play. There are some tense twists and turns in the Sonicfox vs. Honeybee match, but the former's Erron Black sends the latter's D'Vorah packing with a fun finish.
Sonicfox then takes his strong caltrops game to the grand finals against A Foxy Grandpa.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Gamerbee vs. Infiltration
One of the most intense matchups at Evo 2015 this weekend was Gamerbee's battle against Infiltration in the top-eight losers finals bracket. Gamerbee, playing as Elena and Adon, struggles against Infiltration, as Chun-li and Juri, for nearly 30 minutes in some of the most thrilling Street Fighter play ever seen at Evo.
After Gamerbee's amazing performance, he went on to face Momochi in one of the weirdest, most heartbreaking final matches we've ever seen at the premier fighting game tournament.
Ultra Street Fighter 4 - Gamerbee vs. Daigo
Here's Gamerbee in happier times, when he sent competitive Street Fighter mainstay Daigo Umehara home. Gamerbee finds himself fighting for his life in this fun battle against one of his self-proclaimed demons.
