The logo and title of the next mainline Dragon Quest game appear to have leaked early — one day before Square Enix is set to officially reveal the follow-up to Dragon Quest 10. That leak comes directly from Square Enix, which uploaded a logo for Dragon Quest 11 to the series' official website, as spotted by Gematsu.
The logo for Dragon Quest 11 — which has since been taken down — features some iconic imagery from the series, chiefly the fire-breathing dragon that appears in the original Dragon Quest's logo and has been used in spinoff titles like Theatrhythm Dragon Quest. According to a translation from Gematsu, the game's full title is Dragon Quest 11: In Search of Departed Time.
Square Enix plans to unveil the next title in the flagship Dragon Quest series at an event this Tuesday, July 28 in Japan, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. The event will be livestreamed at 5 p.m. JST (4 a.m. ET) on YouTube and NicoNico.
It's not yet clear on which platform(s) Dragon Quest 11 will be released. The most recent entry, Dragon Quest 10, debuted on Wii in 2012. Versions of the game for Android, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Windows PC followed. Typically, core Dragon Quest games are released for the most popular hardware platforms and the series has appeared on NES, SNES, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS and Wii.
Square Enix announced a new Dragon Quest spinoff game, Dragon Quest Builders, earlier this month. Today's leak also hints at another unannounced entry in the franchise, Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Scanner.
