Fallout 4 is huge, so the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide is here to help

The rise of online FAQs in the previous decade nearly rendered printed video game guides obsolete, but every so often, a game comes along that seems to deserve a book-length breakdown — a stand-alone work that you can put on your shelf. Fallout 4 looks to be that kind of game, and publisher Bethesda Softworks is working with strategy guide maker Prima Games on the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide, the companies announced today.

The 400-page compendium includes detailed maps, statistics and more to shepherd you out of Vault 111 and into the post-nuclear Commonwealth. It is being written by the same team that put together Prima's official guide for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Prima has sold more than 3 million copies of guides for the Fallout and The Elder Scrolls franchises combined, the company said today in a press release.

The Fallout 4: Vault Dweller's Survival Guide will be released Nov. 10, the same day Fallout 4 launches. The guide will be available digitally for $9.99, and in a trade paperback for $29.99. Prima is also publishing a hardcover Collector's Edition for $39.99; the company noted that it will not do a second printing of the Collector's Edition.
