If you're bringing Batman, Gandalf, Scooby Doo, Doctor Who and dozens of other characters into the same video game, there has to be some explanation for how they all got there. Lego Dimensions' first story trailer tries to set the record straight.
Turns out that a new bad guy, Lord Vortech, is behind it all. He dwells at the center of the Lego Multiverse, and he's been summoning characters from other Lego worlds to help him acquire some all-powerful Lego bricks, which would let him rule everything. The heroes are here to stop all of the other baddies Vortech has brought to the job.
Makes about as much sense as any other explanation, I suppose.
Lego Dimensions, which will be Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's foray into the the toys-to-life genre, will launch on Sept. 27 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For more on the game and the toys it will use, see Polygon's preview from E3 2015.
