Severed delayed by DrinkBox, won't make summer launch

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

Severed, the next game coming from DrinkBox Studios has been delayed, the studio announced today.

Severed is "days away from hitting alpha," DrinkBox said but it will not be complete in time to hit the summer launch window the studio had anticipated. "Severed is a really different game from anything we've made before and we want to take a few additional months for playtesting and tuning so that we can make it the best game it can be.

"We also need sufficient time to add more memes and dumb jokes," DrinkBox added.

As a panacea, the studio offered another three screenshots.

Severed is a touch-based game being developed for PlayStation Vita, though DrinkBox is considering other platforms with touch capabilities later. In Severed, players use swipe controls to block and attack foes. The protagonist they control is a young woman who awakens to find her family — and her left arm — missing. She's on a quest to get them back.
