World of Warcraft's sixth expansion will be revealed next week at Gamescom

Despite heavily implying that patch 6.2 wouldn't be the final content patch for the World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion, Blizzard has revealed that new content for the latest expansion is done, and the publisher is almost ready to unveil what's next.

In a post on the official World of Warcraft blog, Blizzard says it will reveal the expansion next week during Gamescom. The reveal will be livestreamed on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m. PDT.

On Sunday Aug. 9 at 8 a.m. PDT, Blizzard will broadcast a follow-up stream with developers chatting about the new expansion.

Warlords of Draenor was the fifth expansion for World of Warcraft and was released on Nov. 13, 2014, just under 10 years after the massively multiplayer game's original release. Since World of Warcraft launched in 2004, Blizzard has been open about a desire to release expansion packs on a yearly schedule, but thus far there's been around a two year wait between each expansion.

With only two major content patches for Warlords of Draenor and the expansion announcement about to hit earlier than expected, it's possible Blizzard will finally hit its one year goal with expansion number six.
