NHL 16 won't get a demo aside from the EA Sports Hockey League beta

There will be no standard demo for NHL 16, developer EA Canada confirmed recently.

The public will only be able to try NHL 16 before release in the EA Sports Hockey League beta, which EA Canada is launching today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the beta is available only to people who already own NHL 15, as well as EA Access subscribers. It will run from July 30 to Aug. 6.

"We prioritized a Beta over a Demo because we wanted our fans to go deep with the mode and give us early feedback so we can continue to refine and improve the experience," said Sean Ramjagsingh, senior producer on NHL 16, in response to a question from the community.

Like all EA Sports games, NHL 16 will presumably be available to EA Access subscribers five days before its Sept. 15 release. But aside from that and the weeklong EA Sports Hockey League beta, people won't be able to try NHL 16 before buying.

EA Sports has had a spotty track record for demos since the debut of EA Access in August 2014. Madden NFL 15 and Rory McIlroy PGA Tour did not get demos, but there were demos for NHL 15, FIFA 15 and NBA Live 15.
