Game of Thrones showrunners see eight seasons, and [REDACTED] is so very dead

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss think the show will end after eight seasons, HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo said at the Television Critics Association, Deadline reports.

Spoiler alert: This article contains a major Game of Thrones season five spoiler.

Despite quotes saying that the duo planned seven seasons, Lombardo said that "was never the conversation."

"David and Dan are feeling there's probably two more years after season six," Lombardo said, " [and] that's what we're looking at right now. We hope that they would change their mind, but that's how they are feeling now."

Someone also asked about the fate of Jon Snow, the latest major character to die in Game of Thrones. Despite some hopeful speculation, Lombardo wasn't optimistic.

"Dead is dead as dead as dead," he said. "He be dead. Yes. From everything I've seen, heard, read, Jon Snow is indeed dead."
