Fantastic Four could bomb so badly at the box office that it could force 21st Century Fox to write off $60 million, FBR & Co. analyst Barton Crockett predicts, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
The movie, which cost $120 million to produce, earned just $26 million in the U.S. during its opening weekend. Crockett estimated a $27.7 million opening weekend. As of this writing, Fantastic Four scores a dismal 9 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
For more on the movie, you can read Polygon's Fantastic Four review, which called it "an overbearingly dour drama about four teenagers whose lives are ruined by science." That may have been a result of studio meddling, according to a deleted tweet from its director.
