PlayStation Plus members get to vote on September's free PS4 games starting Aug. 13 (update)

Vote to Play, the Sony program that lets PlayStation Plus subscribers choose which PlayStation 4 games will go free on the service, will kick off this week with a voting campaign for September's lineup, the company announced today.

Three PS4 games are up for voting: League of Geeks' Armello, Ubisoft Reflections' Grow Home and Zoink's Zombie Vikings. The Vote to Play campaign runs for 11 days, starting Aug. 13 at 8:30 a.m. PT and concluding Aug. 24 at the same time.

You must have an active PlayStation Plus account to participate — to cast your vote, head to the PlayStation Plus section of the PlayStation Store. The game with the most votes over the 11-day campaign will be one of the free PlayStation Plus games next month. The other two titles will be available at a discount.

It's unclear if Vote to Play, which Sony announced last month, will be a monthly promotion. But John Koller, vice president of platforms marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America, said in a PlayStation Blog post that Sony will "have more events in the future, so stay tuned."

Update: Vote to Play will not be a monthly feature, according to the PlayStation Blog Europe.

"To be clear, Vote to Play will not be a monthly feature, but will take place at regular intervals throughout the year," said Chris Howe, content manager of PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
