Starting at midnight ET on Saturday Aug. 29 and lasting 24 hours, Splatoon is letting players choose sides in a war that has goes back more than 30 years. Of course we're talking about Autobots vs. Decepticons.
"A Splatfest celebration lasts for 24 hours, during which players head into battle and try to rack up Turf War wins for their side," the press release says. "While the Splatfest is ongoing, in-game characters get to wear a special T-shirt that shows which Transformers team has their allegiance. The ink that each team shoots will also be customized to match the color scheme of the chosen side."
Players on the winning faction will be awarded additional Super Sea Snails, which can be used to upgrade in-game gear.
In North America, previous Splatfests have featured Dogs vs. Cats (Team Dogs won); Roller Coasters vs. Water Slides (Team Coasters won); and Marshmallows vs. Hot Dogs (Team 'Mallow took the day). Europe and Japan have different programming, like Eating vs. Sleeping and Maruchan Red Fox Udon vs. Green Tanuki Soba, respectively.
