You need to see this absurd, over-the-top, five-minute Madden 'movie'

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

EA Sports has decided to make "Madden Season" a thing, following up last year's Dave Franco/Kevin Hart faceoff with "Madden Season: The Movie," a ridiculous (and ridiculously expensive) action movie told in five minutes.

Dave Franco (21 Jump Street) stars as Blade Johnson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) plays Janet. Johnson enlists Janet's help — as well as that of numerous NFL athletes and even a coach — in getting back his girlfriend, Trish, by (what else?) defeating her captor in Madden NFL 16.

To say much more would be to spoil the heated action and the heartbreak, so just hit play and prepare for the Aug. 25 launch of Madden NFL 16 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. For more, check out our interview with developer EA Tiburon.
