Grand Theft Auto 5 gets Rockstar Editor on PS4 and Xbox One next month

Grand Theft Auto 5 publisher Rockstar Games is bringing the Rockstar Editor, the tool that allows players to produce short films from in-game footage, to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game in September, the company announced yesterday.

The Rockstar Editor will arrive on consoles as part of the next Grand Theft Auto 5 update. The version of the Rockstar Editor in that patch will include some new features, which Rockstar will also add to the tool's existing incarnation in the Windows PC version of the game. Some of the new elements are a library of sound effects and ambient audio tracks; additional fonts; copy and paste support for editing markers; and direct upload support for Snapmatic, the in-game Instagram clone.

Rockstar launched Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC in mid-April, and the Rockstar Editor has been available exclusively on PC since then. For more on the Rockstar Editor, check out the trailer below, as well as "Parkour All the Time," our own experiment with the tool.
