Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight looks like he's getting the amiibo treatment, according to a pair of retailer listings that peg the third-party amiibo figure for a release this fall.
According to a listing from U.K. retailer GAME that appears to have been pulled, the Shovel Knight amiibo will offer unspecified "exclusive content" for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. A separate listing from German retailer 4U2Play indicates that the amiibo might offer special content for the cooperative mode on Wii U.
Nintendo has released amiibo figures based on third-party properties like Pac-Man and Sonic the Hedgehog, but they've been based on characters that appeared in the latest Super Smash Bros.
Shovel Knight, a side-scrolling retro-style platformer, was released on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in 2014. A free expansion, Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows, is coming soon, Yacht Club Games says. The independent developer promised a "MEGATON reveal" sometime this week and plans to attend Nintendo's Nindies@Night event leading into PAX Prime.
