Alien director Ridley Scott is "already on to [his] next movie," a sequel to 2012's Prometheus, Empire reports. In a feature about Scott's upcoming film adaptation of novel The Martian, the director confirmed a return to the Alien universe is where he's headed next.
"I was starting to look for locations for my next movie, which is Prometheus 2," he said.
Scott has spoken briefly about the project in the past, including in an interview last year with Yahoo, where he talked about wanting to move past the iconic alien created with the first movie.
"The beast is done," he told the publication. "Cooked. I got lucky meeting H.R. Giger all those years ago. It's very hard to repeat that ... There's only so much snarling you can do. I think you've got to come back with something more interesting."
Prometheus, a prequel to the original series, starred Noomi Rapace and soon-to-be Assassin's Creed actor Michael Fassbender, along with Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Logan Marshall-Green.
