Ultimate Chicken Horse is competitive platform design on the fly

There are a ton of interesting games at PAX Prime's Indie Megabooth this year, and Polygon is going to post about a few of them in the days ahead.

One that is attracting attention on the show floor is Ultimate Chicken Horse from Clever Endeavour. It's a four-player game in which farmyard competitors pick basic platform game elements and place them together to create a level.

They must then try to complete the level. Those who fail lose points. As the game goes on, the level becomes more complex and more dangerous, but each player has an interest in making sure it's complete-able. If no one finishes the level, no one scores.

Playing the game at PAX today yielded lots of dastardly tricks and laughs, as players sought to outdo one another. Modes are also planned for smaller numbers of human competitors, including single-player.

Ultimate Chicken Horse, which was the subject of a successful Kickstarter campaign earlier this year, is out early next year on Linux, Mac and Windows PC.
