Destiny players who purchase the game's upcoming expansion, The Taken King, can take advantage of a character boost that will help them bypass some grind and jump into the game's new story arc.
That boost — players only get one with their copy of the expansion — is a one-time-use consumable, Bungie's David "DeeJ" Dague told Polygon at Gamescom today, and will level up a Guardian to the point where he or she is "poised on the starting line of The Taken King." Dague couldn't say exactly what that minimum level is or whether Guardians will also be automatically outfitted with level-appropriate armor and weapons, but we've asked for more details on the boost.
Bungie says the boost can be used by new and existing characters.
Destiny: The Taken King will raise the level cap from 34 to 40, among other sweeping changes. The expansion is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on Sept. 15.
