Today Frontier Developments announced a new piece of DLC for Elite: Dangerous, called Horizons. This new "season" of major gameplay expansions will, for the first time, add the ability to land on billions of in-game worlds.
Elite: Dangerous will offer planetary landings by Christmas
Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 12-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.
The $59.99 expansion will launch this holiday, and allow players to land on 1-to-1 scale worlds “simulated with the same commitment to realism” as the rest of Elite’s galaxy. The new content will allow players to dogfight over the surface of those worlds, and even take the fight deep inside realistic canyons.
The expansion will also include an all-terrain, wheeled vehicles called SRVs, or Surface Roving Vehicles.
