Fallout 4 video tells you what's SPECIAL about Strength with a delightfully gory cartoon

Samit Sarkar (he/him) is Polygon’s deputy managing editor. He has more than 15 years of experience covering video games, movies, television, and technology.

Fallout 4 brings back the series' classic SPECIAL statistics, and you can see the importance of the Strength stat in a funny new video from publisher Bethesda Softworks.

Your character's Strength determines how much you can carry in your inventory before you become encumbered, a state that renders you unable to run or fast travel. It also affects your ability to use weapons, and the amount of damage you deal with melee attacks.

All of this is explained in a two-and-a-half-minute vignette done in the style of Fallout's trademark 1950s-inspired universe. It's a little more violent than a Looney Tunes cartoon, though.

Fallout 4 launches Nov. 10 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. A season pass will be available for $30. For more, check out our preview from QuakeCon.
