In an effort to promote both the 30th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series and this week's release of Super Mario Maker for the Wii U, Nintendo UK posted a Shigeru Miyamoto-starring, myth-busting new video to its official Twitter page.
There are so many myths about Mario… Mr Miyamoto reveals the truth. #SuperMario30 http://t.co/OsjfUzSW6D

Miyamoto addressed a number of fan questions and rumors in the short clip. These range from the silly "Would you let Dr. Mario operate on you?" — to which Miyamoto vigorously shakes his head "no" — to the more revealing "Do you know who Bowser Jr.'s mother is?"
To answer that one, Miyamoto nods solemnly, then points to himself. That's...unexpected?
The video also brings up a theory about Super Mario Bros. 3, which is addressed in an anonymous fan piece that's been circulating on the internet for a few years now.
The theory is that the game, which opens on a theater curtain, is in fact a "stage show" in which "Mario was never once in any real danger." Miyamoto confirms the theory in the video, granting credibility to this long-held rumor.
Super Mario Maker arrives in stores tomorrow, Sept. 11, but don't expect to find any levels designed by Miyamoto yet: The veteran designer also notes in the video that he hasn't uploaded any of his own creations yet, but that he's working on it.
