A Disney animator draws his signature characters in VR, and it's magical

Glen Keane is an animator who worked on Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, among others. He knows a bit about what creating something magical, and this video is a look at what happened when he tried Tilt Brush, a three-dimensional drawing program for the HTC Vive virtual reality platform.

It's one thing to hear someone from tech expound on the beauty of VR, but it's quite another to hear someone like Keane talk about the creative potential of the technology.

I've been able to try Tilt Brush in the past, and one of the most amazing things about it is the fact it allows you to draw in 3D space, so characters and images feel like real objects. You're not dealing with a little figure on a piece of paper, you're looking at something that exists in the physical space with you.

It's an amazing creative tool, and the studio that created Tilt Brush was recently acquired by Google. This is a look at an artist taking his first steps in VR, it's only going to get better from here.
