Sega's original Japanese gangster action-adventure game Yakuza — known as Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan — is coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan later this year, series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi announced at Sony's pre-TGS press conference today.
The remastered game, titled Ryu Ga Gotoku Kiwami in Japan, will include new elements that Nagoshi said weren't possible when the original Yakuza was released on PlayStation 2 hardware in 2005. Sega showed a montage of familiar-looking action scenes and all-new gameplay elements coming in Kiwami.
Ryu Ga Gotoku Kiwami is slated to hit Japan on Jan. 21, 2016.
Nagoshi also unveiled a new entry in the mainline series, Ryu Ga Gotoku 6. Though he didn't have much in the way of details, other than a logo for the game, Ryu Ga Gotoku 6 will be made exclusively for PS4 and is slated for a fall 2016 release in Japan.
