Reannounced during last year’s Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo’s Ni-Oh got a bit of face time at this year’s big PlayStation press conference.
Here’s a look at the in-development game based on an Akira Kurosawa script
Ni-Oh, which was originally slated for PlayStation 3, but is now a PlayStation 4 title, is based on an unfinished script from acclaimed Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa (The Seven Samurai, Dreams, Ran). The story follows a blond-haired, half-Japanese samurai who battles demons and uses magic.
In its original incarnation, Ni-Oh was in development at Koei Tecmo and was slated for release on PS3. Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive developer Team Ninja announced in 2010 that it had taken over development of the game, but had little in the way of details at the time.
Ni-Oh is expected, finally, sometime in 2016.
