Dragon Quest Builders arrives in Japan this January

Dragon Quest Builders, the Square Enix franchise's take on Minecraft, has been set for a Jan. 28 launch.

The news comes out of Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference. The date reflects the game's Japanese debut. A release window for other territories has not yet been announced.

Square Enix also premiered a new trailer for the game, above. While heavy on the pre-rendered footage, it does give a new look at the game's setting and building mechanics in motion.

The Dragon Quest spin-off will be available for the various consoles in the PlayStation family: the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
