Sony has the only VR commercial so far that doesn’t suck

Sony announced that Project Morpheus is now called PlayStation VR during the Tokyo Game Show, and changing the branding was a solid move. PlayStation VR is a strong, simple statement, repeating the name of the platform and technology. It’s a bit obvious, but the good ideas often are; sometimes it can be hard to go with the best solution in an effort to be idiosyncratic or whimsical.
Sony has also released the only commercial for virtual reality I’ve seen that isn’t terrible. You can watch it above. I suggest you do so before we move forward.

Final Fantasy 15 is slated to launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016.

As part of its Tokyo Game Show updates, Atlus declassified “wanted files” regarding the team of Phantom Thieves at the game’s center. These include the nameless player character, who leads the group. A translation of his profile indicates that he is a 16-year-old high school sophomore, and, like previous Persona heroes, new in town.
He’s joined by classmate Ryuji, a noted troublemaker; An (or Anne), who is part-American and the subject of high school gossip; and the child-sized, cat-like Morgana. Her profile suggests a resemblance between her and the protagonist’s own pet cat. We got a glimpse of that connection in a trailer for the game from February.

The news comes out of Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference. The date reflects the game’s Japanese debut. A release window for other territories has not yet been announced.
Square Enix also premiered a new trailer for the game, above. While heavy on the pre-rendered footage, it does give a new look at the game’s setting and building mechanics in motion.

There was quite a bit of news out of last night’s PlayStation press conference at the Tokyo Game Show. More surprising, though, were how many games were shown off for the Vita.
If you’re feeling a bit glum about the Vita (I still love mine), then check out this fantastic commercial, it’s a bag of smiles and giggles.
