The Last Guardian isn't playable at TGS, but Sony will let you play with Trico

The PlayStation 4 version of The Last Guardian isn't playable for Tokyo Game Show attendees this year. There's a hands-off mini-theater presentation where you can see Team Ico's latest in action, however. And visitors to the show can play around with the game's lovable co-star, dog-bird-thing Trico, thanks to an interactive display at Sony's TGS booth.

When we first walked into TGS, Trico appeared behind bars at the PlayStation booth, mewling and looking forlorn. We just assumed he'd be imprisoned for the remainder of the show. But Sony has a projector and a PlayStation Camera set up at its booth to give players a sense of Trico's scale and the creature's playfulness.

Wave your arms at Trico and the creature will look toward you, occasionally letting out a screech ... and sometimes a sneeze. Trico will also interact with a ball; the creature will paw at it and leap to try to catch it. There's not much to the demo, but it's fun to look at.

There's some iPhone-quality footage of the Trico demo in action in the video below. The Last Guardian is expected to launch for PlayStation 4 sometime next year.
