Nova-111’s blend of real-time and turn-based gameplay is a trip
Nova-111 may not look like it, but it's one of the most puzzling puzzle games around. Sure, it mostly behaves like your typical turn-based action game, but many of its enemies and hazards also move in real time. Keeping the two rulesets straight will take all of the brainpower you've got on you — although the game will toss new mechanics at you with every passing level, which is sure to result in a net brain deficit.
You can watch Nick and I play through a few levels of Nova-111 in the video above. The game’s out now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and Steam.
