Meet Overwatch's two new characters: Roadhog and Junkrat

Two men enter the playable cast of Blizzard's team-based shooter Overwatch today: a pair of Australian "junkers" known as Roadhog and Junkrat. The duo from down under bring a Mad Max-inspired sense of explosive anarchy to the upcoming PC shooter, which you can see for yourself in the reveal video above.

Roadhog, a tank-type character, comes armed with the Scrap Gun, a shotgun-like firearm that fires in a wide spread. It can also launch a shrapnel ball that detonates at a distance to change up his range. He's also got a Chain Hook that seems heavily inspired by Mortal Kombat's Scorpion, in that it yanks his enemies to close range (and evokes a familiar catchphrase). Roadhog can also self-heal and his ultimate ability, Whole Hog, gives his Scrap Gun a big boost.

Junkrat plays as a defense character, according to Blizzard. He's armed with a grenade launcher, concussion mines and steel traps that can immobilize his enemies. His Total Mayhem skill lets him drop a handful of grenades upon death and RIP-Tire, Junkrat's ultimate ability, allows him to launch a motorized tire bomb.

More details on the two new characters' backstory and abilities are available at Roadhog and Junkrat's pages on the official Overwatch site.

With the addition of Roadhog and Junkrat, the Overwatch roster now features 18 characters. Blizzard plans to hold a beta test for the PC game sometime this fall.
