Star Wars fans will get a taste of Star Wars Battlefront in October, when the game's multiplayer beta goes live on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, developer DICE announced today. The five-day long beta will let players experience three of Star Wars Battlefront's multiplayer modes across three of the game's planets.

The Star Wars Battlefront beta will include the 40-player Walker Assault mode on the planet Hoth; 16-player Drop Zone mode, the game's version of king of the hill, on the new planet of Sullust; and Survival mode on Tattooine, which can be played solo or with a friend via splitscreen or online.

DICE said in an announcement that the beta will weigh in at about 7 GB on consoles, 11 GB on PC. Players on PC will be able to preload the beta through EA's Origin service on Oct. 7. Progress made in the beta won't carry over to the final release of the game.

Star Wars Battlefront's multiplayer beta will conclude on Oct. 12.

EA and DICE plan to release Star Wars Battlefront on Nov. 17, about a month before the new movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, hits theaters.
