Watch us play Heroes of Normandie, a roguelike wargame from Slitherine
Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 12-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.
The Heroes of Normandie Kickstarter campaign was wildly successful, funded in 2013 to the tune of 150,000 British pounds. For a board game, that's a lot. Wargame publisher Slitherine took note and quickly signed on a team to create a digital version.
The turn-based game, rooted in old World War II movie tropes, has an interesting bluffing mechanic. At launch it will also feature an online mode, as well as an endless roguelike mode for both U.S. and German forces.
Launching Oct. 1. on Steam, Polygon got preview code for the game last week. Danielle Riendeau joined me to take a look.
