Rare yesterday released a short video paying tribute to an unreleased game called Conker: Gettin’ Medieval.
Rare shows canceled Conker game
The Xbox game, based on Rare’s mischievous squirrel character, was in development back in 2005, after the release of Conker: Live & Reloaded. Set in the Middle Ages, the new game featured a host of familiar characters reworked for the era, with a skeletal Death as the central protagonist.
The game was a co-op team-based shooter with additional siege mechanics.
“My interest was in multiplayer,” said designer Chris Seavor. “That’s where I saw the best scope to do something new and interesting. I wanted to do a game that was completely online and you could come on with your mates.”
Rare did not explain why the game was cancelled. Conker, whose first full game was Conker's Bad Fur Day on Nintendo 64, recently re-appeared as a mini-game Conker's Big Reunion within Microsoft's game world-builder Project Spark.
