Marvel's upcoming Luke Cage series for Netflix has cast the bionic-armed, butt-kicking, case-solving Hero for Hire, Misty Knight.

Actress Simone Missick has been cast as a female lead for Luke Cage, opposite Mike Colter, who'll be playing the titular superhero with impenetrable skin.

"She will play what is listed on the breakdown as Missy, a woman with a strong sense of justice," says Deadline's Nellie Andrews. "I hear the actual character is Marvel's Misty Knight."

Misty Knight is a character who shares a long history with Luke Cage (sometimes known as Power Man) and Danny Rand (often known as Iron Fist, the fourth and final character to get their own Netflix series before they all team up for The Defenders feature film). A former cop who was given a highly advanced bionic arm by Tony Stark after losing hers on duty, Misty has always turned her indestructible arm, martial arts prowess and considerable detective skills toward being a street-level superhero, cracking cases and taking down organized crime.

Rounding out the cast of Luke Cage are Alfre Woodard and Theo Rossi, who have been cast as the villains Black Mariah and "Shades" Alvarez, respectively, as well as Rosario Dawson, who will be reprising her role as Claire Temple from Daredevil.
