A feature film based on Mega Man is now in development, according to an exclusive report from The Tracking Board.
The site — which claims to offer "Hollywood's insider information" — reveals that 20th Century Fox will be co-producing with Chernin Entertainment, which is headed up by Crunchyroll's Peter Chernin. Chernin is joined by co-producers David Ready and Michael Finfer, all three of whom have worked together on the recent Planet of the Apes reboot series.
While details remain scarce as to the film's specifics, the production team's background in live-action sci-fi suggests that Mega Man's Hollywood outing will be in a similar vein.
This marks the latest in a series of announcements for the Capcom franchise. Back in June, Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Ultimate Spider-Man) revealed plans for a new animated series starring the Blue Bomber. The collaboration with Dentsu Entertainment will release in 2017, coinciding with his 30th anniversary.
Mega Man was most recently seen in Mega Man Legacy Collection, which we took a look at last month. That game is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs, with a Nintendo 3DS version still on the way.
