Final Fantasy heroine Lightning is currently serving as a virtual spokesmodel for French fashion label Louis Vuitton. But she may return to video games in the future, according to a Q&A with the fashion house published in The Telegraph, which sounds like a tease related to the Final Fantasy 7 remake.
In Lightning's interview, the label asks her about upcoming projects. She responds that she's "currently winding down after a long journey," likely a reference to the Final Fantasy 13 trilogy, which concluded in 2013. (The Windows PC version of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 was just released in December.)
Lightning then says she sometimes gets "the urge to put my life on the line again and test my limits."
"One day, not so far in the future, I will be out there again, in a world of strife," the response from Lightning reads. "But I won't be the same person I was before. I will return to my origins, like a Mobius strip, but it'll be a new me, one who has evolved.
"I look forward to the day we meet again."
Lightning's response, specifically the words "Mobius" and "strife," could be interpreted as references to two Final Fantasy games in development: episodic mobile game Mobius Final Fantasy and the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Lightning also recently appeared as a fighter in Dissidia Final Fantasy, a fighting game developed by Team Ninja that hit arcades last year, and could come to consoles. Whatever the platform, there is no shortage of opportunity for Lightning to return once more.
