You'll recognize some of the voices you'll hear in The Witness, Jonathan Blow's intensely difficult puzzle game launching later this month. Leading the game's cast are actors Ashley Johnson and Phil Lamarr, Blow announced in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
Johnson's name will ring a bell for fans of The Last of Us. She voiced Ellie, companion of protagonist Joel. While her work spans the spectrum from movies to TV, her other major roles in games include Tales of the Borderlands and Infamous First Light.
Phil LaMarr portrayed Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, but that role is just one of many he's brought to life over his career. He may be best known for his work on Futurama, but he's also been featured in Justice League, Infamous, the Jak and Daxter games, Final Fantasy 12 and more.
Rounding out the cast are Matthew Waterson, whose voice can be heard in The Order: 1886, Fallout 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, and Tera Deva, whose primary profession is in the music industry.
Don't expect The Witness to unfold like a traditional narrative, however. These voices will primarily be encountered through the game's audio logs, and the designer wrote that the story is more implicit than overt.
The Witness will be available on PlayStation 4 and Windows PC on Jan. 26. Get a hint of the gameplay for yourself in the trailer below.
