Replay Dark Cloud 2 on PS4 next week (update)

PS2 favorite arrives on current-gen consoles

Dark Cloud 2 will be available on PlayStation 4 starting Jan. 19, Sony has confirmed. Guests of the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast dropped the news that the follow-up to Dark Cloud would be launching on the console.

Although similar in name, Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 are not directly related; outside of the U.S., the latter was known as Dark Chronicle. The European ratings board PEGI featured a filing under that name back in September, suggesting a future PS4 re-release.

Dark Cloud, on the other hand, has been available on Sony's current console since December. It was among the first PlayStation 2 classics to be ported to the PS4, along with several Grand Theft Auto games and fellow role-playing game Rogue Galaxy.

No price was given for the re-release, but it's possible it will cost the same as its predecessor: $14.99. Like other PS2 classics, it's likely that this one will be upscaled to 1080p and have trophy support, too.

Update: Dark Cloud 2, which is now available on the PlayStation Store, indeed costs $14.99. PlayStation Plus subscribers can get it at the discounted price of $11.24.
