Marvel's Jessica Jones gets a second season from Netflix

Showrunner confirmed the news today

Netflix has formally renewed Jessica Jones for a second season, ordering another 13 episodes of the popular and critically acclaimed superhero drama.

A renewal seemed largely a matter of when and not if, with Netflix coordinating its schedule around a second season of Daredevil, plus shooting for the forthcoming Defenders teamup show (and peeling off Mike Colter for a solo Luke Cage series).

The news was announced today at The Critics Association press tour. In remarks reported by Screen Crush, showrunner Melissa Rosenberg hinted at what's in store for the show and star Krysten Ritter.

"She ends in a very different place than she started off," Rosenberg said. 'She's still going to be Jessica Jones — that is not going to change. She will continue to drink and make mistakes and accidentally drop people onto train tracks, but something has changed for her by the end of this season, and I'd just love to explore that in the second season."

The first season of Jessica Jones has been up on Netflix since November. Get up to speed with all of our coverage of the series right here.
