Pee-wee Herman returns with Netflix feature on March 18

Pee-wee Herman will return to screens for the first time since 1990 on March 18, Netflix confirmed today.

The new special, Pee-wee's Big Holiday, will see Paul Reuben return to his iconic role as he ventures outside of his infamous house to take his first ever vacation.

The last Pee-wee Herman movie was released in 1988, but the character continued his arc on the popular series, Pee-wee Herman's Playhouse, which ran for four seasons.

Reuben eventually stepped back from the character, taking on other acting roles for years, before partnering up with Judd Apatow (Freaks and Geeks) to produce this new special.

The event also stars Joe Mangianello (Magic Mike), Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).

Pee-wee's Big Holiday will be available in all regions where Netflix currently operates.
