A new comic book based on FromSoftware's Dark Souls is coming this April, promising to tell new stories set in the game's dark fantasy universe. Dark Souls #1, published by Titan Comics, will arrive one week before the next game in the franchise, Dark Souls 3, comes to North America on April 12.
It's not yet clear whether the new Dark Souls comics will be part of an ongoing or limited series, based on IGN's story.
Dark Souls will be written by George Mann, who also writes Doctor Who for Titan, and illustrated by Alan Quah.
"Dark Souls has a rich, original universe that's just begging to be explored in comics, and I'm honoured to have the opportunity to delve in and tell some new stories within it," Mann said in a press release. "I've been a fan of the games for some time, so it's a real thrill to be able to contribute to the mythology of the Hollows and their world."
In 2014, Dark Souls publisher Bandai Namco released a digital comic based on the second game in the franchise titled Dark Souls 2: Into the Light. That comic is available to read on Facebook.
