Straight Outta Compton actor to star in new 24: Legacy series

Fox has found its star for the upcoming 24 revival series, Legacy, in Straight Outta Compton actor, Corey Hawkins.

Hawkins, who portrayed a young Dr. Dre in the movie, will play Eric Carter in the new series, according to a report from TV Line. Unlike Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), the infamous anti-terrorism agent from the original series, Carter is unfortunately recruited into the role after he stops a planned terrorist attack that he eventually discovers he has ties to.

Hawkins, who currently stars on AMC's The Walking Dead, is the only name announced for the series so far, but got the a-ok from Sutherland during the Television Critics Association conference last week.

"I have every faith they'll do something cool and clever," Sutherland told TV Line. David Hayter has yet to voice his opinion on the casting decision.

As of right now, the network has only ordered the pilot to air, but if the numbers are as strong as they're predicting they will be, fans can expect a full 12-episode limited series.

If the recent X-Files numbers are anything to go by, a revived show that debuted to over 13 million viewers, the network may just have another winner on its hands.
