Mortal Kombat X's Triborg hides a fourth cyber ninja: Cyber Sub-Zero

Ice to see you

When Mortal Kombat X developer NetherRealm unveiled the game's second batch of downloadable kombatants, one of those characters, Triborg, was pitched as a three-in-one fighter. Triborg's three variations are modeled after a trio of cyborg ninjas: Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke. But it appears there's a fourth cyborg ninja in there.

At this weekend's ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League season 2 finals, NetherRealm's Tyler Lansdown and Derek Kirtzic teased the crowd with a look at Triborg's Cyber Sub-Zero variation and a peek at his moveset. Apparently, Triborg in his Cyber Sub-Zero variation can deploy ice balls and slide like his human counterpart, but can also drop ice bombs and deploy a drone. You can see Cyber Sub-Zero in action very briefly in this archived Twitch stream.

Triborg would be the first Mortal Kombat X character to ship with four variations, not including the "variationless" option that's possible with other fighters.

For a look at Triborg's other variations, and remade stage The Pit, check out the Twitch archive at this timestamp.

Mortal Kombat X's second Kombat Pack, which includes Bo Rai Cho, Leatherface, the xenomorph from Alien and Triborg, will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March.
