While the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles may live in relative obscurity in their underground New York City sewer lair, PlatinumGames' take on the turtles has been an open secret for some time. The game developer and publisher Activision were planning an official reveal of the game tomorrow — after numerous leaks — but it appears even the "official leak" ... leaked early.
Thanks to Xbox.com, we have our first look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan in action. The new trailer shows Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael battling Shredder's ninja clan, The Foot, as well as his henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady. It also appears that cyber-shark Armaggon will make an appearance as one of the many foes the turtles will face.
According to the game's description on the Xbox website, TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan will feature four-player online cooperative play; an original story penned by TMNT comic writer Tom Waltz; and the character action combat that PlatinumGames is known best for.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is listed for a summer 2016 release. While the trailer lists only Xbox 360 and Xbox One, the official website and ratings for the game indicate a release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC as well.
