Planet Coaster, the rejuvenation of amusement-park building sims from the folks who made Roller Coaster Tycoon, showcases several minutes of gameplay in this latest developer's diary from Frontier Developments.
Frontier expects players to take a fine-pointed interest in the layout of their parks and the routes their amusements follow, but still is laboring to simplify the construction tools and editors, to make the process more fun and less like work.
The rest of the video details how park layout and design choices affect patrons — after all, the point of this is to build something pleasing to the AI masses buying tickets. There's no word yet if this will allow coaster planners to create deliberately unsafe, sadistic or traumatizing attractions, which became user-created hallmarks of the old Tycoon series.
Planet Coaster was announced at E3 2015 and is due for a launch sometime this year, on Windows PC. For more check out our discussion with Frontier's David Braben at the expo.
