Luke Cage star Mike Colter says Marvel has found its Iron Fist

Gives update on Luke Cage's role in the show

Iron Fist has been a difficult series for Marvel and Netflix, with the companies reportedly having conflicting views on the direction they want the character to go in. According to Luke Cage star Mike Colter, however, the ball is finally rolling.

During an interview with Collider, Colter said that Marvel has cast the superhero, but they weren't going to be making any announcements about who that is anytime soon.

"The actor has been cast, but he's in a basement somewhere," Colter joked. "When the time is right, they'll let him up and tell him where he is."

Iron Fist was first introduced to comic book readers in 1974. A master of martial arts, Iron Fist was able to wield all of the chakra in his body and focus it in his fist, hence giving him the name Iron Fist. The character also shared a series with Luke Cage, called Power Man and Iron Fist. Together, the two of them launched the superhero team Heroes for Hire.

Colter added that he didn't know whether or not his character would be showing up in the Iron Fist series. Luke Cage will definitely join the other Marvel characters, including Jessica Jones and Daredevil, in the Defenders miniseries.

Colter's Luke Cage was first introduced to audiences during the first season of Jessica Jones. His show is set to debut sometime this year. It was hinted at through a surreptitious tweet from the official Jessica Jones twitter account earlier this week that Luke Cage may premiere on Netflix in November.
