Activision reportedly making new Ghostbusters game for PS4, Xbox One

Hitting alongside Paul Feig's reboot

A new Ghostbusters video game is coming this year, right alongside the new movie of the same name from director Paul Feig, according to a report from Retail Merchandiser.

Retail Merchandiser's report, which is tied to an interview with Mark Caplan, senior vice president at Sony Pictures Consumer Products, says the new, "full-fledged" Ghostbusters game is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It's expected to hit around the same time as the film, which is slated for a July 15 release. It's not clear if the game will feature the new Ghostbusters played by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, or the cast of the 1984 film.

Atari released Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which featured the likenesses of Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, in 2009. That game was developed by studio Terminal Reality — which, incidentally, also developed The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct for Activision.

We've reached out to Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Activision for details on the new Ghostbusters game and will update with any new information.
