Oculus Rift pre-orders open Jan. 6 (update)

You can pre-order the Oculus Rift starting Jan. 6 at 8 a.m. PT, Oculus announced this morning. There's still no pricing announced for the virtual reality system, although the company has hinted that it will cost north of $350.

What is known, however, is what the Rift will come with upon release: Customers will receive copies of "killer app" Eve: Valkyrie and platformer Lucky's Tale bundled with their purchase.

According to the pre-order announcement, Wednesday will also see Oculus founder Palmer Luckey conducting a Reddit Ask Me Anything session at 6 p.m. PT. This week also marks CES 2016, from which will likely come further news about the VR console.

We went hands-on with the Rift in its consumer-ready form at GDC 2015, prior to its public reveal in June. We also checked out the Oculus Touch controller, which was meant to accompany the console's launch. Just last week, Oculus delayed the release of the Touch to the second half of 2016.
