EA Sports UFC 2 will be released March 15 in North America and March 17 worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, publisher Electronic Arts announced today.
That date actually puts the game a few days ahead of EA's previously announced release window of spring 2016 — winter doesn't officially end until March 20 this year. You can see EA Sports UFC 2 in action above in its first gameplay trailer, which EA released today.
The trailer opens with Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo in a recreation of their title bout at last month's UFC 194, where McGregor defeated Aldo to become the UFC featherweight champion. McGregor's victory got him a spot alongside Ronda Rousey on the EA Sports UFC 2 cover. The trailer also features UFC fighters like Holly Holm, Robbie Lawler and Jon Jones, and provides a look at some of the new features EA announced in November.
EA Sports UFC 2 pre-order customers will receive access to three bonus combatants at launch: two mixed martial arts legends in Bas Rutten and Kazushi Sakuraba, and a third fighter to be named later.
"Adding them is huge, and fans are going to go nuts when we reveal who the mystery fighter is," said Brian Hayes, creative director on EA Sports UFC 2, in a press release today. The original EA Sports UFC also featured a "mystery fighter" that was later revealed to be none other than Bruce Lee.
EA Sports UFC 2 will be available for $59.99, and EA will also be selling a $69.99 Deluxe Edition that includes up to $60 worth of premium card packs for the game's UFC Ultimate Team mode.
